Should i or should i not?

Lately I’ve been having this desire to go back to school.. It’s because I stumbled upon some articles about digital marketing and discovered about Social TV. I remember we had a discussion about the future of TV in my strategic marketing class back in Bournemouth Uni. At that moment, 2009, I just came to the UK, still had a bit of culture shock, especially when they were talking about the future of TV. TV is dying? Future of TV? How can it be possible, whilst in where I came from, thousand people still don’t have access to TV. Most of Indonesians, especially those who live in smaller cities, still think that TV is luxury. It’s still a prominent medium for ATL advertising. To my surprise, even back in 2009, the European advertising industry was already talking about future of TV.

Then I finished my study. Went home. I was never a fan of Indonesian TV shows as I thought they are lame. Too much drama and everything seems so fake.. especially the soap operas, which dominates the prime time. Then I realized a new trend, twitter accounts of TV shows are popping. Most of infotainment, news shows have a twitter account now. Some even have Facebook page also. With Jakarta being the most tweeting city (read it somewhere), having a twitter account for a TV show seems just logical.
It wasn’t until just the couple of days when I discovered that all those phenomenon falls under “Social TV”.. Which according to some sources I read, are the future of TV. It drives more engagement with the viewers, even to some extent, let the viewers create the content of TV shows (like those reality TV shows voting system). To brands and marketers, this can mean a lot. Another extent to TV mass advertising and marketing campaigns!

Well.. as I just discovered the term.. I’m still learning about it. Been reading articles and journals.. I’m excited! Which then, leads to this eager to study again.. hehehe. I searched for digital marketing courses, even master degrees. All seems so exciting to me. It’s just.. do I need another master? Or even a Phd? Should I take just a professional certificate? or just a short course?

I may not work in the industry at the moment, i still need to finish this contract that i have with my present employer.. but i know for sure about the one thing that gets me kickin.. digital industry.  Fingers crossed!:)
